Scientists hunt for clues to protect the brain during heart operations

NCT ID NCT05595954

Summary

This study aims to understand why some patients experience brain-related problems like confusion, stroke, or memory decline after heart surgery. Researchers will monitor 500 patients' brain blood flow during surgery to see if keeping blood pressure within a personalized 'safe zone' reduces these risks. The study will also look for biological markers in the blood and genetic factors linked to these complications to improve future patient safety.
