Brain chemical clue hunt for schizophrenia memory problems
NCT ID NCT04013555
Summary
This study aimed to understand how a brain chemical called KYNA affects thinking and memory in people with schizophrenia. Researchers gave 88 participants a dietary supplement (tryptophan) to increase KYNA, and then tested if another supplement (NAC) could block its effects. They used brain scans and memory tests to see if NAC improved brain function and cognitive performance.
