New scan aims to solve brain cancer treatment mystery

NCT ID NCT03347617

Summary

This study tested if a special type of MRI scan using an iron-based dye (ferumoxytol) could help doctors better understand brain tumor scans. It focused on patients with a severe brain cancer (glioblastoma) who were receiving a standard immunotherapy drug (pembrolizumab) along with usual chemo and radiation. The main goal was to see if this scan could accurately tell if a tumor was truly getting worse or if the scan changes were just temporary inflammation from the treatment, which is a common problem.
