First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a precise, high-dose internal radiation treatment (brachytherapy) after standard external radiation, chemotherapy, and the immunotherapy drug nivolumab can help prevent esophageal cancer from coming back. About 60 adults with advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma that did not fully respond to initial treatment will receive 1-2 brachytherapy sessions. Researchers will track cancer recurrence and side effects for 12 months.
