Arm access showdown: which method is safer for artery procedures?
NCT ID NCT07573644
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two methods of accessing the brachial artery in the arm for treating blocked leg arteries: a needle poke through the skin (percutaneous) versus a small cut (open). About 246 adults will be randomly assigned to one method. The goal is to see which approach causes fewer complications at the access site.

- What this could lead to
- If this trial succeeds, it could help doctors choose the safer method for accessing the brachial artery during endovascular procedures, potentially reducing complications.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage comparative study with no direct treatment benefit. Results may not apply to all patients or settings, and complication rates could vary.
