Could a new scope improve bowel surgery for endometriosis?
NCT ID NCT07523308
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new surgical technique called intra-operative dual laparoscopy and neo-rectoscopy (IDLnR) for treating bowel endometriosis. Researchers will compare it to standard laparoscopic surgery in 192 women aged 18-55. The goal is to see if the new method leads to better bowel function and quality of life six months after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
surgical procedure (intra-operative dual laparoscopy and neo-rectoscopy vs conventional laparoscopy)
What this could lead to
If successful, this new surgical technique could become a standard approach for bowel endometriosis, leading to better bowel function and quality of life after surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage trial (192 participants) comparing two surgical methods. The new technique may not prove significantly better than the standard approach, and surgery always carries risks like infection or complications.
