Cow bone boosts dental implant success?

NCT ID NCT07569146

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether adding a deproteinized bovine (cow) bone graft around immediate dental implants helps them heal better in the front upper jaw. Sixteen adults with hopeless teeth were split into two groups: one got implants with the bone graft, the other without. Researchers measured pain, swelling, implant stability, and bone density right after surgery and again six months later.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

deproteinized bovine bone graft

What this could lead to

If it works, this could improve the success and stability of immediate dental implants in the front upper jaw.

What could go wrong

This is a very small study with only 16 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The bone graft is from cows, which may not suit all patients.
