Could common osteoporosis drug slow jaw healing after tooth pulls?

NCT ID NCT01648686

Summary

This study looked at whether a common weekly osteoporosis pill (alendronate) affects how well jaw bone heals after a tooth extraction. Researchers followed 66 postmenopausal women with osteoporosis, comparing those taking the drug to those not taking it. They measured bone filling in the extraction socket over 90 days and checked saliva for possible healing markers to better understand risks and guide dental care.
