New bone device shows promise for closing wide clefts
NCT ID NCT07306429
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested a special device placed inside the mouth to help close wide gaps in the bone of the upper jaw (alveolar clefts) in 8 people aged 7 to 20. The device slowly moved bone to fill the gap, and the team measured how well it worked using 3D scans, tooth movement, and bone health checks. The goal was to see if this method could be a good option for patients with large clefts who may have had failed grafts before.
