Teens with higher BMI may face more gum and tooth trouble during braces treatment
NCT ID NCT07217756
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 36 times
Summary
This study follows 52 teens (ages 12–17) getting braces to see if those with a higher body mass index (BMI) have worse gum health, more white spots on teeth, and higher levels of certain mouth bacteria and inflammation markers compared to teens with normal weight. Participants will give saliva and gum fluid samples and have dental exams at the start and after 6 months. No treatment is given—the goal is simply to observe and compare these oral health measures between the two groups.
