New blood test could spare throat cancer patients harsh radiation

NCT ID NCT06088381

Summary

This study is testing a new approach for people with HPV-related throat cancer who have surgery. Researchers want to see if a simple blood test can identify patients who are unlikely to need follow-up radiation. If the blood test after surgery shows no signs of leftover cancer, patients may be able to avoid radiation and its side effects. The goal is to maintain high cure rates while reducing unnecessary treatment.
