New blood test may spare prostate cancer patients from unnecessary scans
NCT ID NCT07553754
First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study is developing a blood test that looks at genetic material (RNA) from tiny particles called exosomes to predict if prostate cancer has spread to the bones. The goal is to create a reliable 'rule-out' test so that low-risk patients can safely avoid more expensive and time-consuming PET scans. Researchers will study 1000 men with newly diagnosed prostate cancer to see how accurate this blood test is compared to standard imaging.
