Faster blood test aims to save mothers from severe bleeding

NCT ID NCT03064152

Summary

This study tested if using a faster, bedside blood test (called ROTEM) could improve treatment for severe bleeding after childbirth (postpartum hemorrhage). The goal was to see if this test could help doctors give the right blood products sooner, potentially reducing the total amount of blood needed and shortening hospital stays. The trial was terminated early and enrolled 49 women at risk for or experiencing this serious complication.
