Blood test could replace risky biopsies for lung cancer patients

NCT ID NCT02372448

Summary

This study tested a blood test designed to detect specific genetic changes in lung cancer cells. The goal was to see if this 'liquid biopsy' could reliably match patients to targeted therapies, avoiding the need for invasive tissue biopsies. Researchers enrolled 206 patients with advanced lung cancer to validate this approach.
