Ankle cuff could let moms hold baby Skin-to-Skin right after C-Section
NCT ID NCT07422766
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study checks if blood pressure readings from an ankle cuff are as accurate as those from a standard arm cuff during planned C-sections. About 110 women will have their blood pressure measured at both sites. If ankle readings are reliable, mothers could hold their newborns skin-to-skin right after birth without needing an arm cuff in the way.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that ankle blood pressure cuffs are reliable during C-sections, allowing mothers to hold their babies skin-to-skin right after birth without removing the cuff.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small observational study, not a treatment trial. The results may not apply to all patients or situations, and ankle readings might not match arm readings closely enough for routine use.
