New drug combo tested to keep vein stents flowing

NCT ID NCT04694248

Summary

This study is testing whether a specific combination of two blood-thinning medications helps keep a newly placed vein stent open. It involves 172 adults in China who have a serious blood clot in a deep leg vein and a narrowed iliac vein, and who have just had a procedure to remove the clot and place a stent. Participants will take one blood thinner for 6 months and another one daily for life to see if this prevents the stent from getting blocked again and reduces complications over 12 months.
