Common drug could stop dangerous bleeding in blood cancer patients

NCT ID NCT06599762

Summary

This study is testing if a widely available, inexpensive drug called tranexamic acid can safely reduce bleeding episodes in outpatients with serious blood cancers (MDS or AML). About 75 adult patients with low platelet counts will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo pill. Researchers will monitor both groups to see if the medication lowers the risk or severity of bleeding, which is a major quality-of-life and safety concern for these patients.
