Can a novel drug combo outperform chemo in lung cancer?
NCT ID NCT07739199
First seen Jul 31, 2026 ยท Last updated Jul 31, 2026
Summary
This trial is testing whether a new drug called BL-B01D1, combined with an immunotherapy that targets PD-1 and VEGF, works better than standard chemotherapy combined with the same immunotherapy for people with advanced squamous non-small cell lung cancer. About 200 adults with this type of lung cancer that has spread or cannot be removed will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups. The study will compare how well the tumors shrink and how long people live without the cancer progressing, while also monitoring safety.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- BL-B01D1 (izalontamab brengitecan) in combination with a PD-1/VEGF bispecific antibody
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could offer a new first-line treatment option for people with advanced squamous lung cancer, potentially improving response rates and delaying disease progression.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-to-mid-stage trial, so the combination may not prove more effective than standard chemo and could carry added side effects. Results are not yet available.
