New biomaterial may keep jawbone strong after losing multiple teeth

NCT ID NCT02903667

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether a collagen-based material placed into fresh tooth sockets after extraction can reduce bone shrinkage. Forty adults with multiple teeth removed received the material and later dental implants. The goal was to see if the treatment preserves jawbone shape and density over six months to three years, helping maintain a good foundation for implants.
