Chest drain biofilm study aims to reduce Post-Surgery infections
NCT ID NCT07228598
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study observes 180 adults who have chest drains placed after elective thoracic surgery. Researchers will analyze the drain tips for biofilm—a sticky layer of bacteria—and check if it is linked to infections or antibiotic resistance. The goal is to learn how drain duration affects biofilm and improve infection prevention.
