New system aims to grade bladder injuries during tumor removal
NCT ID NCT07396038
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will test a new classification system (BICEP) to grade bladder injuries that happen during a common surgery for bladder cancer called TURBT. Researchers will observe 1,000 patients to see how often injuries occur, how severe they are, and how doctors manage them. The goal is to create a standard way to report these injuries, which could help improve surgical safety and patient outcomes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a standardized way to classify bladder injuries during TURBT, helping doctors manage them better and potentially improve patient recovery.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not testing a new treatment. It may not directly change patient outcomes or lead to immediate improvements in care.
