New ultrasound could spot hidden vein damage in dialysis

NCT ID NCT04399941

Summary

This study is testing if a special ultrasound probe placed inside a vein (IVUS) can give doctors a better picture of vein damage in people on dialysis. The goal is to see if this method is more accurate than the standard X-ray test (venogram) at finding and measuring blockages. Researchers will compare the two methods in 50 patients at Boston Medical Center who are having problems with their dialysis access.
