Scientists test new tools to spot deadly hospital pneumonia faster

NCT ID NCT06181669

Summary

This study tested whether combining new lab tests for bacteria with tests that measure the body's immune response could help doctors more accurately diagnose pneumonia in patients on breathing machines. Researchers followed 173 adults in intensive care units for up to 14 days to see if these combined tests matched doctors' diagnoses better than current methods. The goal was to gather information to design future studies that could show if these tests actually help patients get better treatment.
