New scan could spot hidden prostate cancers, slash unneeded biopsies
NCT ID NCT07220720
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding a special PET-CT scan (POSLUMA) to standard MRI can better detect serious prostate cancer in men whose MRI results are uncertain (PIRADS 2 or 3). About 30 men who have not had a biopsy before will get both scans before their scheduled biopsy. The goal is to see if the combined approach reduces false alarms and finds more real cancers, potentially avoiding unnecessary biopsies.
