3D scans hunt hidden mouth bugs in heart patients

Summary

This study aims to see if a more detailed 3D dental scan (CBCT) is better than a standard panoramic X-ray at finding hidden mouth infections in patients hospitalized for a serious heart infection called infective endocarditis. Researchers will enroll 170 stable patients to compare which scan finds more dental problems over 12 months. The goal is to improve detection so these infections can be treated, potentially preventing future heart infection episodes.
