New exam method aims to spot cervical changes better, reduce unnecessary biopsies

NCT ID NCT05870787

Summary

This study tested a systematic scoring system called the Swede score during colposcopy exams to see if it could improve the detection of serious cervical precancer (CIN2+). It involved 929 women in Denmark who were referred for a colposcopy due to an abnormal screening test. The goal was to see if this method could help doctors more accurately identify which women truly need a biopsy and safely avoid taking unnecessary tissue samples from others.
