New blood test could make risky liver surgery safer
NCT ID NCT04421924
Summary
This study is testing if using a special blood test (thrombelastography or TEG) to check and correct clotting problems before a liver shunt procedure is safe and works better than standard tests. It involves 39 adults with liver cirrhosis who need the shunt placed. The goal is to see if this approach reduces unnecessary blood product use without increasing bleeding risks.
