NCT ID NCT05576207
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving pregnant women a fortified energy and protein supplement (BEP) improves birth weight and reduces problems like low birth weight and preterm birth. Over 3,300 women in Bangladesh were randomly assigned to receive either the BEP supplement or a standard multiple micronutrient supplement, with some groups getting the BEP only if they had a low body weight before pregnancy. The goal was to see if the BEP supplement leads to healthier birth outcomes compared to the standard care.
