Robotic precision could transform prostate surgery
NCT ID NCT07741656
First seen Aug 03, 2026 · Last updated Aug 04, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new robotic-assisted platform, called the Beacon Platform, for a type of prostate surgery known as HoLEP, which treats enlarged prostate symptoms. The trial will enroll 50 men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) to see if the platform can safely and effectively perform the surgery, compared to standard techniques. The goal is to assess how well the device works during the procedure and whether it reduces complications, such as bladder or ureter damage.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Beacon Platform, a robotic-assisted surgical device for HoLEP prostate surgery
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could make prostate surgery for BPH safer and more precise, potentially reducing complications and improving recovery for men with enlarged prostates.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early pilot study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The device could fail to match standard surgery, and there are risks of surgical complications like bleeding or injury.
