First seen May 08, 2026 ยท Last updated May 08, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether the BCG vaccine, normally used to prevent tuberculosis, can reduce the hidden HIV reservoir in people living with HIV. Sixty adults on stable antiretroviral therapy received either BCG or a placebo. Researchers measured changes in the size of the HIV reservoir in their blood over 6 months to see if the vaccine could help control the virus.
