Pre-Surgery amino acid drink fails to prove benefit in colorectal cancer trial
NCT ID NCT05494658
First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether giving colorectal cancer patients a drink with branched-chain amino acids before surgery could prevent high blood sugar and insulin resistance after the operation. Insulin resistance after surgery can lead to complications. The trial planned to enroll 79 adults aged 50-80, but it was terminated early, so results are limited.
