Brain tumor breakthrough? device opens barrier to boost chemo
NCT ID NCT04998864
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This early study tested if a focused ultrasound device can safely open the blood-brain barrier in 3 adults with aggressive brain tumors (glioblastoma) during standard chemotherapy. The goal was to see if the procedure is safe and can be repeated, potentially allowing more chemo to reach the tumor. While promising, this is a small safety study, not a cure, and more research is needed.
