Dutch doctors test if thousands can safely skip regular throat scans
NCT ID NCT06803147
Summary
This study is checking if it's safe for people with a low-risk form of Barrett's esophagus to stop having regular camera checks of their food pipe (endoscopies). It will follow over 3,100 patients in the Netherlands for at least 10 years to see how many develop serious cancer. The research is observing what happens under new Dutch medical guidelines, not testing a new treatment.
