Could a pill that calms inflammation also lift depression?
NCT ID NCT07003997
Summary
This study is testing whether a drug called baricitinib, which reduces inflammation, can help improve symptoms of depression in people who have both depression and high levels of inflammation. About 100 adults with depression, low motivation, and a specific blood marker of inflammation will take either baricitinib or a placebo pill for 8 weeks. Researchers will use brain scans and motivation tests to see if the drug improves brain connectivity and reduces symptoms like lack of pleasure and slowed movement.
