First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study compared two treatments for painful calcium buildup in the shoulder tendons: ultrasound-guided barbotage (a needle procedure to wash out the calcium) and shock wave therapy (sound waves to break up the deposits). 63 adults aged 30–60 with chronic shoulder pain took part. The goal was to see which treatment better reduces pain and improves shoulder function over 6 months.
