Could a blood injection boost shoulder healing?
NCT ID NCT02173743
First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at 80 adults with painful calcium deposits in the shoulder that didn't get better with standard care. Researchers tested whether adding a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection right after needle aspiration (a procedure to remove the calcium) could reduce pain and improve shoulder function more than needle aspiration alone. The goal was to find a better minimally invasive option to avoid surgery.
