New study tests best way to treat major brain stem strokes

Summary
This study looks at two treatments for a severe type of stroke that blocks a major artery at the back of the brain. About 518 adults will be grouped based on whether they received a procedure to remove the clot or standard medical care. The goal is to see which approach leads to better recovery and lower risk of death.
