Balloon catheter may boost stroke recovery in major artery blockages
NCT ID NCT07192029
First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests whether using a balloon guide catheter that temporarily stops blood flow helps remove clots more effectively in people having a stroke caused by a blocked internal carotid artery. About 364 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either the balloon catheter or standard care during a procedure to remove the clot. The main goal is to see if the balloon catheter leads to complete blood flow restoration on the first attempt.
