New fluid may help sepsis patients during emergency surgery
NCT ID NCT07172451
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tests if a fluid called balanced gelatin is better than standard fluids for people with sepsis (a severe infection) who need emergency abdominal surgery. Sepsis causes fluid loss, leading to low blood pressure and organ problems. The trial will compare the two fluids in 318 adults to see which one keeps blood pressure stable and reduces fluid buildup. Participants will be followed for 90 days after surgery.
