Flickering glasses may help volleyball players with wobbly ankles
NCT ID NCT07255625
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether wearing stroboscopic glasses (which flicker between clear and dark) during balance exercises can help female volleyball players with chronic ankle instability. Twenty-four professional players completed a supervised balance training program while wearing the glasses. The researchers measured improvements in balance, jumping, and ankle function. The goal is to find a simple, non-drug way to strengthen ankle stability and prevent future sprains.

What this could lead to
If effective, this training approach could help athletes with chronic ankle instability improve their balance and reduce the risk of future sprains.

This is a small, completed study with only 24 participants, so results may not apply to all athletes. The training requires special glasses and may not be widely available.
