New twist on Baker's cyst treatment: does poking holes prevent return?
NCT ID NCT07385560
First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study looks at a common knee problem called Baker's cyst, which causes pain and swelling behind the knee. Researchers want to see if making tiny openings in the cyst wall (fenestration) during a standard fluid-draining procedure helps symptoms improve more and keeps the cyst from coming back. About 44 adults with knee arthritis and a Baker's cyst will be randomly assigned to get either the standard treatment or the standard treatment plus fenestration, and then be followed for 3 months.
