Gene sleuths hunt superbugs in cystic fibrosis lungs
NCT ID NCT04341532
First seen Apr 28, 2026 ยท Last updated Apr 28, 2026
Summary
This study looked at sputum (mucus coughed up from the lungs) from 83 adults with cystic fibrosis who were hospitalized for a sudden worsening of their lung condition. The goal was to find genetic markers of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and see how they relate to treatment outcomes. By understanding which bacteria are present and whether they resist antibiotics, doctors hope to choose more effective treatments for future lung flare-ups.
