Back pain study aims to match patients to the right treatment

NCT ID NCT04870957

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This completed study looked at nearly 500 people with chronic low back pain to understand why some treatments work better for certain individuals. Participants tried one of four approaches—mindfulness, physical therapy, acupressure, or medication—and those who didn't improve enough could try another. The goal was to learn how to personalize care, not to test a new cure.
