New breathing tube gadget aims to cut sore throats after surgery

NCT ID NCT07017205

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether an automatic device that keeps steady pressure on a breathing tube's cuff can prevent fluid from leaking into the lungs during surgery, compared to the usual manual method. About 72 adults having planned surgeries will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods. Researchers will measure fluid leakage using a safe blue dye and ask patients about sore throat and voice changes afterward.
