Sound sleep: can noise bursts boost memory in epilepsy patients?

NCT ID NCT04788628

First seen Nov 14, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at how certain brain waves during sleep help form memories. Researchers will play short bursts of noise at specific times during sleep to see if they can strengthen these brain waves and improve memory. The study involves 24 epilepsy patients who already have electrodes implanted in their brains for medical monitoring. The goal is to learn more about how sleep affects memory, not to treat epilepsy directly.
