New heart zapping method may reshape atria – CT study to find out

NCT ID NCT07395089

First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a newer, gentler heart procedure called pulse-field ablation (PFA) can reverse harmful changes in the heart's upper chambers in people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). Researchers will compare CT scans taken before and 3 months after the procedure in 200 adults. The goal is to see if PFA reduces heart chamber size, wall thickness, and surrounding fat, which could mean better long-term heart health.
