New lens aims to sharpen vision after cataract surgery
NCT ID NCT06264232
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a new type of artificial lens, called the AT ELANA 841P, for people having cataract surgery. 284 adults with cataracts in both eyes received either the new lens or a standard lens. Researchers measured how well patients could see at different distances and checked for side effects over six months. The goal was to see if the new lens provides better vision without extra risks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AT ELANA 841P intraocular lens (implanted device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this lens could provide clearer vision at multiple distances after cataract surgery, reducing the need for glasses.
What could go wrong
This is a completed trial comparing two lens designs, so results are already known. The new lens may not offer significant advantages over the standard lens, and some patients may still need glasses for certain tasks.
