NCT ID NCT06723392
First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study is testing whether treating pregnant women who have bacteria in their urine but no symptoms can reduce the risk of preterm birth, stillbirth, or having a baby that is too small. About 1,134 pregnant women in seven low- and middle-income countries will be randomly assigned to receive either antibiotics or a placebo. The goal is to see if this simple, low-cost approach can improve newborn survival and long-term health.
