One shot vs. five days of pills: the battle to keep asthma patients out of the ER

NCT ID NCT07228052

Summary

This study tests if a single steroid shot given in the emergency room works as well as a 5-day course of steroid pills to prevent adults with asthma attacks from needing to return. Researchers want to see if the one-time shot helps control asthma better and improves quality of life over the next month. The goal is to find a simpler, more reliable treatment option since many patients don't finish their pill prescriptions after leaving the hospital.
