New asthma attack protocol for kids: will standardizing care reduce ER visits?
NCT ID NCT07412769
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This observational study enrolls 500 children aged 6-17 who come to the emergency department with an acute asthma attack. Researchers will check if doctors follow the latest GINA 2025 guidelines for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. The goal is to see if standardizing care improves how asthma attacks are managed and reduces repeat emergency visits.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could improve how hospitals diagnose and treat childhood asthma attacks, leading to better outcomes and fewer emergency visits.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It measures guideline adherence, not a new drug or therapy. Results may not change practice if hospitals don't adopt the recommendations.
